Summer of Success: Study Business English in Canada

International students are traveling to Wilfrid Laurier University during the summer to enhance their Business English skills. The LEAF Business English program is part of the Laurier English and Academic Foundation (LEAF) program – an academic English program.

The LEAF Business English program is for students who are studying business, or are interested in studying business or international business, or for working professionals looking to improve their English.

Course offerings include Business Presentation and Speaking Skills, North American Business Culture, and Reading and Writing for Business. Students also have the opportunity to visit international companies (including Google and Toyota), have one-on-one advising with experienced instructors, and network with local business leaders.

A Community of Support

Graduating global leaders for over 104 years, Wilfrid Laurier University believes that a successful education must lead to more than just a job; leading lives of leadership and purpose are part of the equation as well.

“Our students are part of a community; they learn, grow, work, and socialize together. They are fully supported by the staff and faculty throughout their time with us,” said Manager, Marketing and Communications – Recruitment & Admissions, Melissa Stephens. “What really sets Laurier apart from other institutions is our students’ desire to get involved outside of the classroom.”

With over 3,000 volunteer opportunities through the students’ union and over 175 campus organizations, it’s no surprise that in 2015 Laurier was ranked the number one school in the world for volunteerism by LinkedIn.

International Student Support

With over 1,000 international students and dozens of exchange programs, Laurier offers students abundant resources to help them feel at home and thrive, both academically and socially.

About Wilfrid Laurier University

Laurier has two main Ontario campuses that are highly involved in their surrounding communities: Waterloo (small enough to be safe and easy to navigate but large enough to offer great art, music, restaurants and other big-city amenities) and Brantford (campus is rooted in the downtown core — close to cafes, walking trails, and a diverse arts scene).

The LEAF Business English program is hosted at the Brantford campus, where students will study, live in residence, and have the opportunity to explore everything the area has to offer.
