Located in the Toronto suburb of Oshawa, UOIT is a research intensive institution with a growing reputation for innovative degree offerings including engineering, technology, business, and the arts. International students are currently enrolled in undergraduate degree programs across all faculties, and have access to robust English language courses, helping with a seamless transition.
Innovation in Research
UOIT’s focus is delivering a cutting-edge intersection of academic knowledge, research, hands-on skills, and a dynamic campus life.
The Energy Systems and Nuclear Science Research Center (ERC) is partnered with entrepreneurial efforts and commercial partnerships to develop green and renewable energy and technologies. The UOIT-CMCC Center for Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation fosters research collaborations across fields to promote innovative medical improvements. The Ace Climatic Wind Tunnel (ACE) is a unique research facility which is the first ever of its kind.
Programs across two campus locations, from accounting to physics to legal studies, offer dynamic collaborations and a record of student success.
Included in their tuition fees, each UOIT student is issued a learning tool for the duration of their studies. This ensures that students are tech-savvy and allows for integrated research, interactions with class material during lectures, and an equal learning environment for all students.
Internships and Co-ops
All UOIT degree programs offer experiential learning on campus or within local industries, with the exception of two online degrees. These opportunities include students in Applied and Industrial Mathematics, Commerce, Electrical Engineering with a Smart Grid technology focus, Pharmaceutical chemistry, and more.
Hundreds of international students from over 80 countries have chosen UOIT as part of their academic journey. An International Student Advisor provides mentoring and academic support, including advocating for students and offering assistance with immigration and permits. ESL support services are available through the Student Learning Center, which provides one-on-one writing tutorials, academic workshops, and weekly conversations with local students.
Student Advisors connect international students with on-campus opportunities and organizations, in addition to the International Students Club.
English Language Program
For international students with a desire to perfect their English and to easily transition into Canadian university, UOIT offers varying levels of English language assistance. Students can choose to live in on-campus residences or to stay with a local family.
Successful completion of the ESL program guarantees admittance to a UOIT degree program.
