Top Research and Career Development for Postgraduates

Postgraduate study in the UK means exposure to some of the best universities in the world and the opportunity to work with leaders in research. A 2015 British Council study found that UK universities were the main destination for Nobel Prize winners who have studied abroad.

In 2015/16, three UK schools were ranked among the “Top Ten Universities for Engineering and Technology” by QS Worldwide University Rankings. UK schools are well known for programmes ranging from finance to fashion design, and mechanical engineering to climate change. Many programmes offer flexible scheduling and incorporate internship or work placements for international career development.

University of Nottingham

Engineering PhD: The Faculty of Engineering at Nottingham is internationally recognised for its world-class teaching and research. An impressive 98% of the research is defined as being of international quality (REF 2014). University of York

The Green Chemistry and Sustainable Industrial Technology Master’s Programme, officially accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry, equips students with detailed knowledge in green chemistry and state-of-the-art green technologies. The Green Chemistry Centre of Excellence is a world-leading institution, with long-standing connections around the world including UFSCAR and UFRJ. University of Birmingham

MSc Computer Science

This one-year master’s degree course is for students who have a first degree in a subject other than computing.

Established in 1969, it is now the longest-running conversion programme to computing in the UK and boasts a high employment rate. Graduates have found employment at companies such as Credit Suisse, J.P. Morgan, Bank of America, BAe Systems, Tesella, and Atos.

London School of Economics (LSE)

MSc (Research) Advanced Manufacturing Technologies

This is a collaboration between the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) – bringing together one of the largest Mechanical Engineering departments in the UK, an internationally renowned advanced machining and manufacturing centre, and more than 60 key players in global aerospace and advanced manufacturing.

Nottingham Trent University

MSc Molecular Microbiology

This exciting course is designed to provide students with a multidisciplinary approach to the study of the molecular biology of micro-organisms. Students study the key concepts associated with molecular microbiology and use these when considering their role in health, disease, and in the natural environment.

This course provides students with opportunities to study advanced principles of the metabolism and genetics of microbes, microbes involved in clinical health and the natural environment, and infectious diseases.

The Climate Change: History, Culture, Society MA is a unique multi-disciplinary programme offered by King’s College London, a global top 20 university (QS World Rankings 2015-16).
