High Student Satisfaction at the University of Teesside
Ask students at the University of Teesside (TU) whether they would recommend their university, and 89% will say, “Yes.” This speaks volumes about the university’s commitment to student satisfaction, as do rankings in The Times and The Sunday Times, which recognised TU as the “University of the Year for Student Retention” in 2014.
Hub Location to Discover the UK
Teesside University is located in Middlesbrough, which is in the Tees Valley of North East England. “We are in a fantastic location, within reach of a really nice coastline and amazing countryside,” shared International Marketing Manager Natalie Clark. “We are 2.5 hours by train to London or to Edinburgh. It’s a hub for exploring the rest of the UK.”
The campus is conveniently placed in the centre of town so students can enjoy local activities and live within walking distance. For all the advantages of living in Middlesbrough, it is still very affordable. Brazilian students have given positive feedback about the cost of living, which is very low by UK standards.
Teesside University offers a wide variety of programmes from its Schools of Science and Engineering, Art and Media, Computing, Social Sciences, Business & Law, and Health. Some of the most popular programmes at TU include computer science, graphic design, and animation and visual effects. In 2014, the animation programme was ranked among the top twenty programmes in the world by 3D World and Animation Career Review and graduates go on to work at gaming and animation powerhouses like Pixar, DreamWorks, and Sega.
The Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014 also indicated that 90% of the general engineering research produced by Teesside University is judged to have world–leading and internationally excellent impact.
Students at Teesside can benefit from 85 years of teaching excellence and innovation in education.
TU Students are Entrepreneurs
Coming to the UK may be an investment, but it pays off with excellent job prospects after graduation. Students gain employment at the world’s top companies or launch businesses of their own. TU graduates have gone on to start 300 companies with the help of campus business support services. International students also benefit from these career services; TU was ranked first in the world in terms of library and career services for international students, and first in the UK for employability in the 2014 International Student Barometer.
The university has already seen great success with Science without Borders and encourages more Brazilians to come experience the ideal location and quality programmes for themselves.
“The range of skills I am building here will make me stand out from the crowd, mainly when I get back to Brazil. I have learned a lot about myself as a professional, how to behave and present myself professionally, how industry works, and what companies expect from me.”
– Átila Souza Oliveira , BA (Honors) Graphic Design
“I am feeling more confident because of what I have experienced in Teesside University. I am more confident with my skills and also the course has provided me with ways to develop networks, which is fundamental to getting a job.”
– Paulo Batista de Almeida Filho, BA (Honors) Computer Animation and Visual Effects
