Lake Forest Academy: Cultivating Excellence
Founded in 1857, Lake Forest Academy (LFA) offers prestigious high school education for students from 36 countries and 18 states. Lake Forest is a small town near the shore of Lake Michigan, just 30 miles from downtown Chicago.
LFA attracts individuals looking for rich, rewarding learning experiences and relationships. This vibrant boarding environment offers both day and boarding students a lifelong passport to new challenges – met with openness, curiosity, and the confidence to stretch beyond comfort zones.
A rigorous curriculum with 21 Advanced Placement (AP) courses, an average class size of 12 students, and excellent faculty mean that 100% of LFA graduates are accepted to college.
Campus includes a swimming pool, ice rink, gymnasium, playing fields, a new science center, state-of-the-art classrooms, and a performing arts center. With 27 varsity sports offered, students have a wide variety of athletic opportunities. Approximately half of students live in dormitories close to campus extra-curricular activities, service learning opportunities, and classrooms.
Global Multicultural Commitment
Multiculturalism is a priority for LFA, and is upheld at all levels from student admissions to curriculum to faculty hiring. A summer ESL program offers intensive language study and a rich schedule of activities for 13- to 19-year-old students from around the world. LFA students can participate in a school year abroad, and several advanced classes include international travel, including a Latin American studies course that takes students to the Peruvian Andes.
Lake Forest Academy is a founding school in the Global Youth Leadership Institute, empowering students to develop as lifelong leaders and global citizens.
