Hands-On Experience at High Point University

Dr. Nido R. Qubein, University President

Founded in 1924, High Point University (HPU) hosts 4,400 undergraduate and graduate students from 48 states and 37 countries. The private, liberal arts institution has a strong academic history and is committed to ensuring its students graduate with hands-on experience in their discipline, along with the life skills necessary to be successful in the world.

Consistently recognized with the “Best Undergraduate Teaching” by US News and World Report and ranked as the #5 Best Campus in the United States by Niche.com, HPU also offers exceptional graduate programs including an MBA through the Earl N. Phillips School of Business which prepares students for the rapidly changing business world.

Located in High Point, North Carolina and part of the Piedmont Triad, alongside the cities of Greensboro and WinstonSalem, the region provides the perfect academic setting with the benefits of nearby metropolises. Some of the national and global companies that can be found in the area include AT&T, Bank of America, Banner Pharmacaps, Citicards, FedEx, Honda Aircraft, Lincoln Financial Group, Mack Trucks, Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation, Proctor and Gamble, the Volvo Group, TYCO Electronics, United HealthGroup, and UPS.

This vibrant and diverse business community offers many opportunities for internships, guest speakers, field trips, and experiential learning. The results of these relationships are real world, hand-son learning experiences, balanced with in class case studies and simulations. Student safety is a priority at HPU, which is ranked as the “Top 12 Safest Campuses in the United States” by Security Magazine. Over 93% of students live on the beautiful campus all four years of their undergraduate studies.

While small class size, First Year Success coaches, and career development counselors help support student success on campus, a vast array of study abroad options provide students tangible experience to compete in the global marketplace off campus. Students have the opportunity to study abroad in over 25 venues in 20 countries around the world.

HPU has a growing population of Brazilians enrolled in its full undergraduate program and in its spring semester study abroad program. Most recently, HPU officials attended international student recruitment workshops provided by ICEF in São Paulo and the G.A.T.E. in March 2015. The buzz from HPU’s graduate offerings is growing internationally and the school is invested in building relationships with Brazilian secondary school partners.

With faculty committed to student success and growing international exposure, High Point University is wellpoised to deliver on its mission of educational experiences that enlighten, challenge, and prepare students to lead lives of significance in complex, global communities.
