A Hands-On Approach to Business Education
With graduate programs such as the M.Sc. Digital Marketing, the M.Sc. Accounting, the M.Sc. Finance and Investment Management, in addition to a traditional full-time MBA program, the Jack F. Welch College of Business (WCOB) at Sacred Heart University prides itself on its longstanding reputation for preparing students for successful careers in business with a hands-on, applied approach to teaching.
Located in the hedge fund capital of the US in Fairfield, Connecticut, the school’s accessibility to nearby New York City’s Wall Street enables students to intern at some of the most prestigious firms in the area during their time at Sacred Heart University. The university’s strategic location draws students from around the world to the Jack F. Welch College of Business, with an impressive 8% of students getting their master’s in finance and investment management, hailing from Brazil.
With regards to Brazil, the school hopes to see enrollment of Brazilian students increase across all business majors. “Recent growth in Brazil’s economy and influence in Latin America makes Brazilian students a valuable addition to our classroom experience as they bring a rich perspective to regional economic discussions, integration, and international financial markets,” noted the WCOB’s Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Finance, Dr. Kwamie Dunbar.
Students at the WCOB enjoy the opportunity to interact with some of the top professors in their fields. “Our distinctive faculty comes to the Jack F. Welch College of Business from major investment banks, hedge funds, and corporations, which makes them uniquely qualified to guide our students through the preparations for their various careers in finance, marketing and business management,” explained Dr. Dunbar.
Dr. Dunbar explained that programs at the WCOB are designed to provide students with “cutting-edge, analytical training that prepares them for the challenges of today’s business roles.” At the WCOB Innovation Center’s Problem-Based Learning Lab, students tackle real business problems to benefit the local community. On a broader scale, students are encouraged to study abroad and can even complete part of their MBA in Luxembourg, a partnership that has been successful for 20 years.
The business school, home to more than 950 students, is continuously evolving to meet the needs and interests of its diverse student population. Accredited by the AACSB International, the Jack F. Welch College of Business is an excellent choice for those looking for a challenging, hands-on way to strengthen their business skills.
