The University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM), perched along a beautiful bayou, has maintained a commitment to quality teaching and preparation for student success since 1931. With AACSB International accreditation in business and accounting, the institution is part of an elite group of 1% of business programs with both accreditations globally.

With one of the highest passage rates among Louisiana public universities on the Louisiana CPA exam and a reputation of producing strong leaders in a variety of competitive industries, graduates of these programs earn tools that attract employers from across the globe.

Having a bustling international student population, ULM looks forward to strengthening its relationship with Brazil through the development of partnerships and opportunities specifically designed for Brazilian students.

Assistant Vice President for Marketing, Recruitment, and Community Engagement, Lisa Miller, spoke to the unique opportunities for Brazilian ULM graduates: “With a growing number of relationships between the university and Brazilian companies, our business graduates, whether they remain in the US or return to Brazil, have extraordinary opportunities to secure positions because their degree highlights their potential as leaders in their respective industries.”

Students continue to choose ULM for business because of its many specializations and internship possibilities. With highly-concentrated programs including Risk Management and Insurance, Construction Management, Aviation, and Agribusiness, among others, employers are attracted to the institution’s high-performing graduates.

Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences, Ron Berry, developed an on-campus opportunity for these employers to meet strong candidates before graduation: “Our Business Symposium brings speakers from all over the world to visit with our students. We hold a three-day conference in lieu of our classes, at which our students can visit with CEOs and entrepreneurs. They are able to learn about what is going on in the business world, talk about internships, as well as secure permanent job opportunities.”

One of the institution’s alumni benefited from these opportunities so greatly that he donated a million dollar international housing development located adjacent to the ULM College of Business and Social Sciences. With this beautiful accommodation, in combination with fee waivers and many generous scholarship opportunities available to qualifying international students, ULM students from abroad have access to a rare offering in US academics.

Located in the “Twin Cities,” the university has easy access to the arts, cuisine, culture, and opportunity. With more than 100,000 residents, Monroe is home to CenturyLink, an industry leader with elite Fortune 150 status. If ULM students are looking to take internship opportunities outside of the region, the college’s business alumni financially support those opportunities through the Innovative Student Internship Fund, which has funded student internships in London, Hong Kong, Turkey, and across the US.

With generous financial support available to students from around the world, experience in placing graduates in high-caliber positions in a variety of industries, and AACSB-International accreditation, the ULM College of Business and Social Sciences is excited to welcome more Brazilian students to its network of alumni.
