Education First: Pioneering Language Study for Brazilians at Home and Abroad

Education First (EF) is a private international education company, with 50 years of experience in innovating language and cultural exchange in 50 countries worldwide. Using their own cutting-edge curriculum, EF provides full immersion educational programs as well as offering online language training.

As a private institution, the majority of EF programs are not linked with universities, but operate independently according to their proprietary time-tested methodology.

2016 Olympics

As the Official Language Training supplier for the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics, EF will not only provide language skills for athletes and Olympic staff and volunteers, but will also pursue a larger vision to increase English language skills nationwide, with programs focused on school children to business owners. EF plans to teach a second language to an astonishing one million Brazilians in preparation for the games.

Preparation for Brazilians Studying Abroad

EF International Language Centers offer a local bridge for students participating in academic programs abroad. The English For Academic Purposes course provides training in conducting research projects, writing essays, preparing scientific documents, and other fundamentals. Classes are tailored to the student’s ability and placement abroad; whether it’s a four-year program, a postgraduate degree, or government scholarship recipients participating in an exchange year.

The Brazilian Ministry of Education for the Science without Borders Program utilizes EF’s testing programs, which they plan to expand for broader access to the scholarship program.

The English For Academic Purposes program can be tailored according to each student’s needs for participation in a scholarship. The independent education model fits the IIE requirements.

Education First in the US

In the United States, EF International Language Centers offer 12 locations for full language immersion studies: Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Honolulu, Chicago, Boston, New York, Atlanta, Miami, and Washington, D.C.

These diverse locations offer international students an enormous variety of American experiences – from beach settings to welcoming Southern culture, to centers of political and commercial power.

All courses include active learning that involve exploration, collaboration, and creative involvement by the students. Excursions and cultural events in the surrounding communities deepen this education. Host families provide opportunities for language immersion while also giving students a sense of a home away from home.
