Georgia State University: Innovative ESL Classes and a Real American Experience
Nestled in the heart of downtown Atlanta, Georgia State University (GSU) offers diverse cultural, athletic, social, and academic opportunities for an active student body. Many programs, including business, boast high national rankings, and in 2015, US News & World Report awarded GSU 5th Most Innovative School in the US.
Intensive English Program (IEP)
This commitment to excellence and innovation are key to GSU’s Intensive English Program (IEP). The program is part of the Department of Applied Linguistics and prides itself on crafting the best in ESL educational theories to serve its students, including tailored curriculum and long years of faculty experience. Applied Linguistics graduate students offer free ESL tutoring.
Weekly student activities and conversation partnerships are complemented by high-level exchanges with faculty and PhD student TOEFL research partnerships as well as a commitment to student feedback.
Custom Pre-Law Program
This June, GSU is launching an intensive seven-week program designed to prepare future Master of Laws (LLM) students for graduate-level coursework. This advanced IEP program focuses on reading legal briefs, presenting legal arguments in speech and writing, and familiarizing international students with American legal language and concepts.
An Authentic American Experience
By becoming part of a large student body, international students can dive into the rich life of American university culture—from diverse cultural opportunities to an exciting athletic tradition. IEP students live in dorms or in local apartments and are introduced to a wide array of American cultural activities in the broader Atlanta community.
