Are you planning to study English in order to transition to a university program afterward? If so, it may be worthwhile to attend an ESL program that offers conditional admissions to its host university, or a private ESL school that partners with universities. Similarly, those interested in getting ahead in their studies and taking academic courses while simultaneously strengthening their English skills should look out for schools offering Pathway or Bridge programs.
The majority of universities and colleges in the United States offer conditional admission to students upon satisfactory completion of their ESL program in addition to meeting the other general requirements of admissions at each school. Students do not need a TOEFL or IELTS score to apply for conditional admission.
