North Carolina State University – Creating Prosperity
Located in Raleigh, North Carolina’s state capital, NC State University has been ranked in the Top 10 Best Value Public Colleges by The Princeton Review, and boasts excellence in STEM, agriculture and business fields.
About the Intensive English Program (IEP)
The IEP at NC State is unique in their specialized offerings of intermediate to advanced language instruction. Program Director Karin Sandler explained, “We want students to complete our program and progress to their academic programs quickly. We have a very specific focus to best serve our students’ needs.”
Academic success is the core focus of the IEP. Students are enrolled in up to 25 class hours per week (compared to 18 hours in other programs) and may access free academic coaching (both one-on-one and in a small group format). A dedicated academic advisor monitors students’ progress during each semester, ensuring that each individual is meeting their goals and receiving the support they need.
These efforts contribute to NC State University’s remarkable success in Intensive English instruction. Students who complete the IEP are admitted to their major at NC State without additional TOEFL or IELTS testing. These students have excelled in their degree-seeking programs and experience considerable success upon graduation.
