Excellence in Engineering, Arts & Sciences, and Student Support
The University of Kansas (KU) is located in Lawrence, Kansas, which often ranks as one of the best cities in the US to attend university. Combine great location with world class research, experiential learning opportunities, one of the most established ESL programs in the country, and top-ranked programs and it is easy to see why more than 2,300 international students have chosen KU.
“It’s a very research-intensive school. A lot of our programs have top-quality experiential learning opportunities with state-of- the-art facilities,” explained Senior Student Recruiter for International Recruitment, Shannon O’Hagan.
The Best in Engineering
KU’s prestigious School of Engineering offers 12 undergraduate, 19 master’s, and 11 doctorate degree programs, with top 30 U.S. News & World Report rankings for public master’s and doctorate programs in Aerospace and Civil Engineering. Students in all engineering disciplines benefit from a focus on interdisciplinary research and enjoy finding solutions for real-life issues in four research centers.
Beyond rigorous academics, students are supported by robust student services and organizations like the society of Hispanic Professional Engineers which assists students with networking opportunities, leadership skills, and scholarships.
Arts & Sciences
The majority of students at KU are enrolled in the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences with more than 50 departments and 100 majors, minors, and certificates. Like most programs at KU, courses in Arts & Sciences provide abundant practical learning opportunities and focus on global awareness.
For high-achieving students, KU offers an exceptional Honors Program, from which 99% of students accept job offers or continue onto graduate school. “It’s a great highlight of the KU experience,” said Ms. O’Hagan.
50 Years of Success in Teaching English
The Applied English Center at KU has been helping students whose native language is not English since 1964. The center offers five levels of instruction— from beginning to advanced for students and customizable short term programs for groups. A bridge program was created to transition students into KU’s academic courses alongside an Intensive English program which many students complete in 12 months.
Quite an Experience!
Rich traditions infuse student life and culture at KU where there are over 600 student organizations and one of the most thrilling athletic programs in the country. Students from around the world leave KU with a truly American experience and a world-class education.
