Drawing students from a wide cross-section of nations, Language Pacifica offers full-time and part-time intensive English courses for students needing academic English, TOEFL preparation, English for business, and English for personal enrichment. Since 1979, thousands of students from every part of the world have made their way to the San Francisco Bay Area’s Silicon Valley to study at Language Pacifica. Some come for the traditional intensive courses, while others come to take advantage of a private, customized curriculum to suit specific English language learning needs.

Located in Menlo Park, a small city bordering Stanford University midway between San Jose and San Francisco, Language Pacifica takes full advantage of its proximity to some of the best colleges and universities in the Bay Area by maintaining conditional acceptance agreements with local community colleges such as Foothill College, De Anza College, and the San Mateo Community Colleges.
These affiliations are particularly attractive for international students who are interested in continuing their studies, as graduation from these programs allows students to enroll in the University of California system. In addition, Language Pacifica has partnerships with over 10 universities around the US for those who would like to experience a different part of the United States after graduation.
Reflecting the diversity within the state of California, Language Pacifica embraces a multicultural perspective in its own program and is currently looking to broaden its reach in Latin America. Director at Language Pacifica, Ruth Kirby shared, “We are aiming to have 25% of our students representing Latin American countries in the very near future.”
Embracing diversity, service, and excellence, Language Pacifica has created an innovative environment to learn English and be immersed in American culture. Continuing to expand its reach both internationally and through partner school affiliates, it’s clear why Language Pacifica is considered one of Northern California’s most respected independent ESL schools.
“Our goal is to build the highest quality ESL program in the area and provide our students with excellent English education to broaden their options in the future,” summarized Language Pacifica CEO, Sophia Zhang Ellithorpe.
