Small Classes, Smooth Transition

In UL Lafayette’s Intensive English Program (IEP), students learn in small groups with highly trained ESL instructors, and many go on to pursue degrees at the University. ESL students at UL Lafayette receive hands-on training in both English language and American culture, with excursions (to places such as nearby New Orleans) scheduled throughout each 8-week session.

The IEP provides an affordable pathway to undergraduate and graduate programs for students who have not yet met the University’s English proficiency requirements. Testimony from a current Intensive English Program student, Erika C. (Mexico)

  • “Studying in the Intensive English Program is more than just a learning experience; it is a cultural experience. The IEP has affected me positively because it makes me feel that I can communicate better in English. My life has definitely changed because I can express my ideas more clearly. What I enjoy most about the IEP is that it is a great place to study where students have the opportunity to learn and also meet other students from all over the world. New IEP students should know that the IEP is a great experience that also gives you a fantastic opportunity to learn English!”
